Great living starts with a picture
I am currently studying Psycho-Cybernetics, a book by Maxwell Maltz. The sub-title is “A New Technique for Using Your Subconscious Power.”
The chapter I am working on now is called “Imagination — The First Key.”
In this chapter a practice exercise is given.
In the introduction to the practice exercise Dr. Maltz quotes another doctor who says,
Great living starts with a picture, held in your imagination,
of what you would like to do or be.
That is fascinating!
This exercise goes into creating such a picture.
Set aside 30 minutes each day when you can be alone and undisturbed. It is very important.
To start this 30 minute time period you want to let yourself relax and be as comfortable as possible.
Close your eyes and open up your imagination.
With your imagination you see pictures.

It does not matter whether it is a still picture like a photograph or whether it is a motion picture like a movie or video.
All that matters is that you let a picture develop.
As the picture develops, make the image as vivid and as detailed as possible.
These will be details that are important to you. This is your personalized picture or video.
Pay attention to small details such as the sights, the sounds, the smells, the texture of the objects, anything and everything that is in your imagined environment.
You want your mental image to approximate actual experience as much as possible.
If the imagined experience is vivid enough and detailed enough your imagined practice experience will be equal to an actual live experience!
This is what we want!
Doing this will prepare us for the next part of the exercise.
Till then you can share as best you can, in the comments below,
What your picture looks like!
I wish you all the best,
Derrall
