Beware the 3D’s of defeat
In some of my recent study I have come across some new insights to better understand how our paradigm can stop us or hinder us as we move towards a goal.
A paradigm is just a fancy word for the habits that control us and make us who we are.
These are what I call the 3D's of Defeat.
They are:
- Delay
- Distraction
- Dissuasion
They are inter-related, but also distinct.
Today we will explore Delay and then deal with Distraction and Dissuasion in two other posts.
How Can Delay Defeat Us?

It starts out as a simple thought.
"I can get to that later"
If we allow that kind of thought to govern us and to guide our action we could very easily find ourselves not taking the action that we need to do in order to accomplish the things we say that we want to accomplish.
In order to accomplish any objective we have to take some action.

In sports, in order to score a goal, the players have to take action.
In ice hockey, it is move the puck, pass it around and shoot it into the opponents net.
In basketball or soccer, same thing, this time with a ball, always moving toward the opponents net.
Every sport has some way of keeping score of when a goal has been scored.
There is always action.
If you delay and do nothing, there is no way you can score the goal.
In sports, delay can also mean having a goal scored against you.
So beware of delay.
Get into the game and start taking action.
Please share the Action you are Taking to Reach Your Goal for 2015 in the comments below!
all the best,

Thank you for reminding me! LOL The three d’s. The one I find most harmful to me is distraction. OMG. Every time I turn around I’m checking emails, messages, losing my train of thought! Your article helps me to realize just how far off I am with mind things. I need to learn to focus better for sure.
You said to let you know what actions I was taking to have a great 2015?
I’m working each and every day here at my computer building a business online, so that I can help others make money and no longer be a slave to the system. So I’ve set aside 4 hours each week just to help others with their problems here online. Then I spend 4 hours writing articles that help others find me, so that I can better assist them and get them going in the right direction.
I have a passion for working online, and I love being here every minute. Some problems associated with doing this though? Not getting enough exercise!
So I have to make myself get up and walk the dogs each day!
Yes, like you said, it is hard to break habits. And we need to set goals and stick to stuff! Our life depends on it! :)This article you wrote should help bring this to light! The three D’s caught my attention!
